As a Sustaining Electrical Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on different challenging projects for Busek’s Electric Propulsion Systems. This exciting opportunity allows you to contribute directly to space flight programs supporting cutting-edge missions for NASA, other government agencies, and the commercial space sector. Success in this role requires experience in electrical circuits for complex systems, concept of operations, product development, and interfacing with customers/suppliers. The position requires 20% travel to attend different design reviews, technological interchange meetings, and flight hardware support at customer and supplier locations. - Collaborate with customers, suppliers, project managers, and subcontractors to lead robust space electronics development.
- Work with interdisciplinary teams to evaluate and understand the product design limits, reliability, design margins, and different possible failure modes and effects.
- Work with designers and test engineers to refine test plans/procedures to sift infant mortality, review general design and interface requirements, and support contract manufacturers during the volume production phase.
- Experience supporting Customer/Supplier design reviews, technical interchange meetings, failure investigations, root cause analysis with good illustration of charts, data analysis, and trend analysis for internal and external reports and presentation slides.
- Background in analog, digital, and mixed-signal design.
- Good communication and collaboration skills to work with internal and external interdisciplinary teams.
- Basic understanding of power converter concept of operation to successfully operate, debug, and optimize the electric propulsion system operation.
- Experience with circuit simulations (such as LTSpice).
- Detailed understanding of power converter design, layout, control parameters, and application.
- Strong understanding of MIL-STD-461 engineering standards.
- Prior Electrical Engineering experience in an aerospace environment.
- Expertise in Altium Designer, including schematic capture, PCB Layout principles, and library management.
- Experience with supporting RIDs and root-cause investigation for different non-conformances.
